Genevieve

I’m a paramedical tattoo artist in Post Falls, Idaho. Areola restoration after a mastectomy, areola color correction, and permanent brows. By appointment, through my own booking page.

Why the business is called Restored Reflections

The Restored Reflections symbol carries two words around its outer ring: Paramedical Tattoos. That is the whole positioning of the business, and it was decided on the seal before there was a website to put it on. Paramedical work is tattooing aimed at skin that surgery, illness or time has changed, which is a narrower trade than tattooing, and a different one.

It is also why the business is not named after me. A brow client and a woman three months out of surgery are two different people with one thing in common, and the name is for both of them.

How I work

  • By appointment, not by walk-in. Every booking is a request I read and answer myself before anything is confirmed.
  • Ask for the mirror before anything starts. The shape and placement get mapped onto you first. Look at it, take your time, and do not say yes until you like it.
  • Plan on a second visit. Skin decides how much pigment it keeps, and you cannot know that from the chair. I say the same on my booking page: we can correct light areas with a touch-up six to ten weeks after the first appointment.
  • Ask what I would say no to. A scar that has not settled, timing that is too soon after surgery, and results a tattoo simply cannot deliver are the honest no’s in this work, and an artist who will name them is worth more than one who says yes to everything.

The standard I set for myself

In this work artists set their own standards, which makes “what are yours?” a fair question to ask anybody — and I would rather tell you mine than have you wonder. So here they are, all of them:

  • New sterile single-use needles, opened in front of you.
  • Single-use pigment cups, nothing poured back into a bottle.
  • Surfaces single-use, barrier-filmed, or disinfected between clients.
  • Sharps go into a proper sharps container.
  • One client in the studio at a time, in a private room.
  • An ink spot test for anyone who has never been tattooed: a couple of dots of pigment, healed and watched for a few weeks, before anything larger is booked. It is on my booking page in my own words.

Ask me to walk you through any of that before you book, and ask the same of any artist you are considering, anywhere. It is a fair question everywhere, and the answer tells you most of what you need to know. An artist who welcomes it is telling you something; an artist who dodges it is telling you more.

What I am not

I am not a medical provider and do not present myself as one. I do not diagnose, do not advise on your surgery, and do not bill insurance. My work happens after the medical part is finished, and I work alongside it rather than inside it.
